    When I press startup repair it says it can make the repairs and does the same loop over and over and brings me back to the option to go to advanced options or shut down

    You can disable automatic restart from advance system settings advancesettings by going to safe mode. It is usually good to know the cause of the problem rather than just applying a fix. Thanks for sharing.

    When I type ren c:/boot/bcd bcd. old it tells me the syntax of the command is incorrect
